ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Ali Muhammad Khan said the armed forces and the judiciary should not be criticized.
Speaking in the National Assembly session, Ali Muhammad Khan said criticism of the armed forces and judiciary must stop. He also said speeches of opposition leaders are not aired during assembly proceedings and that this ban should be lifted.
Responding to him, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said there is no such ban at all.
Later, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar addressed the session and said the broadcasts of their speeches in the house are stopped. He said even if the speeches are aired later, they should be aired.
The Speaker said he has to look after matters related to national security. Barrister Gohar replied that they do not say anything against national security.
Earlier, a Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court has delivered its verdict in another case linked to the events of 9 May, sentencing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Dr Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Omar Cheema and Ejaz Chaudhry to ten years’ imprisonment each.
According to reports, the Anti-Terrorism Court acquitted former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while the sentences for the other PTI leaders were announced by Judge Manzar Ali Gill at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.
The court delivered its reserved judgment in the case concerning the burning of police vehicles during the unrest on 9 May. Under the ruling, PTI leaders Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Omar Cheema, Ejaz Chaudhry and Dr Yasmin Rashid were each sentenced to ten years in prison.
