The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an important announcement for WhatsApp users, cautioning that accounts linked to inactive, blocked, deactivated, or unregistered SIM cards may become inaccessible.
According to the advisory, users are urged to ensure that their WhatsApp number is connected to an active and valid SIM in order to avoid disruption of service.
The PTA stressed that maintaining an active SIM is essential to protect users’ conversations, contacts, and overall digital identity.
The authority advised users to immediately verify their WhatsApp-linked number and update it if their current SIM is inactive.

In cases where the SIM is no longer active, users should migrate their WhatsApp account to a verified SIM without delay.
PTA also recommended that individuals visit the nearest franchise or customer service center for biometric verification and SIM confirmation if required.
The advisory further warned users not to delay action, stating that accounts could become unexpectedly logged out or inaccessible if linked with invalid SIMs. It stressed that a mobile number is not just a means of connectivity but a key part of a user’s digital identity.
