KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) carried forward Thursday’s positive momentum into Friday’s opening session, with the benchmark KSE-100 index advancing by 471.47 points, or 0.25 per cent, to reach 184,992.43 at 9:35am.
Market activity reflected broad-based investor confidence, as 252 scrips advanced, 121 declined, and 191 remained unchanged out of a total 564 traded.
The all-share index rose 424.98 points to 111,698.71, while the KSE-30 index gained 133.67 points to 55,216.86. The KMI-30 index climbed 810.07 points to 262,124.57, and the BKTI added 55.05 points to 51,735.99.
Trading volume stood at 117.29 million shares, with a value of Rs4.08 billion across 37,666 transactions. Analysts noted that the continuation of upward momentum from Thursday’s close — when the market edged higher on sustained buying interest — has bolstered sentiment at the start of the new session.
Market watchers attributed the gains to a combination of easing regional concerns and investor optimism over corporate earnings, though they cautioned that volatility could resurface amid global commodity price fluctuations.
