Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who has been on a personal visit to Switzerland, faced an unpleasant incident when she and former Prime Minsiter Nawaz Sharif, were heckled by alleged supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
As Maryam Nawaz stepped outside the building in a car with her bodyguards, a few PTI workers, including a woman stood outside and raised slogans to challenge her leadership. The slogan did specifically refer to Form 47, a document regarding the elections that were held in February of this year, which PTI claims was tampered with.
‘Form 47, Form 47!’ the protesters shouted repeatedly, invoking PTI’s ongoing campaign against alleged electoral fraud. This slogan has become central to PTI’s assertions that the elections were manipulated, with the party calling for greater transparency and accountability from the government.
Earlier, Maryam Nawaz reached Switzerland by a chartered plane where she would undergo a medical checkup for thyroid gland.
Her father Nawaz Sharif had also reached Switzerland from London. The father and daughter may visit London on their way back to Pakistan next week. Earlier this week, Ms Nawaz was hospitalised at the Sharif Medical City due to some health issues.
