A protest demonstration was staged outside Karachi Press Club against ransacking churches in Faisalabad over alleged blasphemy.
Talking to MM News, a participant of the civil society Shahzadi Rai said If a Christian man can be booked over blasphemy charges then why the mob which attacked churches in Faisalabad cannot be booked under the same charges? Attacking churches is not blasphemy?, she asked.
She said “Mulla Gardi” has destroyed the values in Pakistan, it put the lives of transgender persons in danger and now the same is happening with Christians. Rai further said today is the black day in the history of Pakistan when a minority is attacked.
Sheema Kirmani, talking to MM News condemned the attack on churches in Jaranwala, Faisalabad. She said the police failed to protect the members of the Christain community, as the assault began in the area in the early morning.
The other participants of the protest regretted that the media did not cover the incidents in Faisalabad which is the reason why they reached KPC to record their protest against the incidents. They asked for stern legal action against those involved in the ransacking.
Earlier today, a crowd vandalised several churches and setting scores of houses on fire after accusing the Christian community of its members over alleged blasphemy.
The incident took place in Jaranwala town of the industrial district of Faisalabad.
