ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator, Shibli Faraz has said that the government was working to bring the country’s education sector up to international standards on a priority basis.
During a meeting with Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Tariq Banuri, the information minister said the development of the education sector was the first priority of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Faraz said PM Imran had directed for the formulation of a mechanism on a priority basis to ensure the provision and easy accessibility of education as well as internet facility to the students across the country.
“Equipping the youth with modern sciences and preparing them to face the challenges of the present and future is the need of the hour, he added. He said that education was the foundation of an enlightened and civilized society.
Banuri briefed the information minister about the working and performance of HEC. Talking about the issue of sub-campuses of federal universities in different provinces.
Banuri said, “A detailed action plan is formulating so that quality of education is maintained as well as it can be ensured that the students do not face any hindrance at the sub-campuses”.
“Due to the COVID-19 situation, the education sector is facing extraordinary challenges. Every effort had taken to ensure that the teaching process is not affected in any way,” he added.
