KARACHI: On the orders VC University of Haripur, Dr Aanwarul Hassan Gilani, responsibilities of the Registrar’s Office have been given to Additional Registrar Muhammad Riaz as per Office Order No.2 (2) UH / Reg / Estb / 2022/032 issued by the Assistant Registrar (Establishment). There is no mention in the letter of removing Registrar Dr. Shah Masood Yousafzai and reassigning him back to his own department.
Moreover, Riaz Mohammad was not appointed as registrar in the letter, which is an illegal act in itself and is tantamount to throwing dust in the eyes of the governor who is the chancellor of the university. Abbas Ali, the man who issued the letter is Ali the Assistant Registrar Establishment in Grade 17, who was a Lab Attendant in Grade 7 and has been promoted against the rules.
It should be noted that Registrar Dr. Shah Masood is accused of awarding degrees to his students without publishing a research paper. Dr. Ikramuddin’s Ph.D degree was also given a clean chit by Dr. Shah Masood in the inquiry committee in 2013.
Meanwhile, a selection board is being prepared at Haripur University, in which the registrar Dr. Shah Masood Yousafzai is also a candidate. As per rules, the Registrar is the direct in charge of the selection board and he is the only person who gets the complete details of the candidates and Registrar’s Office is the most important factor in passing and selecting a candidate in the selection board.
On the other hand, some candidates, including the teachers of Haripur University, are expressing reservations that the Vice-Chancellor has ostensibly removed Dr. Shah Masood from the post of Registrar’s Office and replaced him with Mohammad Riaz, who is a puppet registrar.
Dr. Masood Yousafzai’s brother-in-law Dr. Tariq Rauf (Tourism Department) will be recruited according to the list of pre-prepared people. Haripur University has voluntarily appointed an Assistant Professor which is a unique example in the history of universities.
According to the list received from sources close to Dr. Masood Yousafzai, Dr. Ali Raza Gormani from Microbiology, Dr. Zahoor Ahmed from Soil and Meteorological Science are candidates for the professorship. Muhammad Junaid from Information Technology, Dr. Saeed Khan from Entomology, Dr. Fayyaz Khattak from Physics and Dr. Khalid Zaman from Economics are the candidates for the associate professorship.
Among the candidates for the post of Assistant Professor are Dr. Muhammad Tahir from Information Department, Dr. Mushtaq Hussain, Dr. Muhammad Arshad and Dr. Umar Zeb from Botany, Dr. Ashraf Ali from Chemistry, Dr. Ehtesham Mahmood from Physics, Dr. Matiullah and Dr. Faisal Zeb from Statistics and Dr. Muhammad Imran from Statistics. Dr. Huma Qureshi, Dr. Mumtaz from Public Administration, Dr. Tariq Rauf from Tourism and Hospitality Management, Dr. Haseeb from Management Science, Dr. Qaiser Khan from Mathematics, Dr. Amir Khan, Dr. Muhammad Kamran from Islamic and Religious Studies, Dr. Raza Khan from Sociology and Public Health Including Dr. Ijaz-ul-Haq.
According to the list, Assistant Professor, TTS candidates include Azhar from Plant Breeding and Genetics, Dr. Sajid Faiz, Muhammad Faraz from Environmental Science, Dr. Rashid Ahmed from Soil and Climate Science and Ijaz Khattak from Economics.
Sources said that preparations have been made to recruit most of the members of the said list through the selection board for which their reports have also been sought from favorite professors, due to which the selection board will be exhibited.
In this regard, the Vice-Chancellor of Haripur University, Anwar-ul-Hassan Gilani, when contacted, said that we have removed Registrar Dr. Shah Masood from his post for a few days after the completion of his three-month contract period and handed over the responsibilities to Senior Additional Registrar Muhammad Riaz. On another question, Dr. Gilani said that the selection board will be transparent and If one cannot be selected through a recommended culture, then how can there be another.
