In a distressing incident on Wednesday, a polio worker was reportedly abducted and assaulted in Jacobabad, according to the district’s Deputy Commissioner (DC).
The event took place in Detha village, under the jurisdiction of the Mola Dad police station.
DC Zahoor Murri confirmed that police responded promptly, escorting the victim to James Hospital under heavy security. “The victim is currently undergoing a medical examination,” he said, adding that a medicolegal report will determine if abuse occurred.
The polio worker claimed that two armed individuals lured her under the guise of administering polio drops to children. “The suspects have been identified, and operations are underway to apprehend them,” said the DC, assuring that arrests will follow soon.
