KARACHI: Police claimed to have arrested a suspected terrorist allegedly linked to Indian spy agency RAW in Keamari district.

Keamari SSP Fida Hussain Janweri said the Keamari district police in collaboration with intelligence agencies arrested Mansoor Ali alias Anil in a targeted operation carried out in Ittehad Town.

He said one kilogramme of explosive material, two receivers, one pistol with ammunition, one bona cord wire and an explosive mine was seized from his possession. The police claimed the alleged terrorist received training in India and involved in plotting subversive activities.

According to police, the suspect was a member of the Asghar Shah Group linked with a proscribed nationalist organization. It said Asghar Shah is currently absconding and is probably in contact with his Indian operatives by providing targets and is receiving support from other proscribed extremist and separatists groups in Balochistan.

Police said the terror network was involved in targeting attacks against CPEC, sensitive installations, IED attacks on gas pipelines, attacking law enforcement agencies personnel, and police and Rangers vehicles.

This is the second such operative in the past month. On December 23, police had arrested two terrorists linked to the Indian spy agency in Karachi.

According to SSP Fida Hussain, police conducted a raid at a house in Ittehad Town and apprehended two alleged terrorists belonging to a RAW-backed group.

Six kilograms of explosive material, hand grenades, arms, ammunition and other material were recovered from their possession, he added. He said that the suspects were involved in the killing of law-enforcement personnel and a hand grenade attack on a school in Larkana.
