SINDH: Sindh police on Sunday claimed to have arrested 289 people over allegedly violating lockdown orders across Sindh province during 24 hours.
According to a spokesman for Sindh police, at least 84 people were arrested for violating lockdown orders from different parts of Karachi.
Those were arrested including 43 people from the South zone, 11 from East zone and 30 people arrested from the West zone. While a total 26 FIRs were registered against the arrested people.
Meanwhile, 205 people were arrested by police from different areas of Sindh, includes five people from Hyderabad, 11 from Mirpurkhas, 28 from Shaheed Banazirabad, 51 from Sukkur and 110 people were arrested from Larkana over the violation of lockdown. While a total 72 FIRs were registered against the arrested people.
Earlier, the Sindh government imposed a complete ban on public movement, social and religious gatherings across the province under Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act 2014.
In this regard, a notification stated that the violation of the orders will be considered as an offense punishable under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal code.
The movement of people, gathering of any kind and any other purpose at any public or private place will remain banned for the next 15 days amid coronavirus outbreak.
Meanwhile, the federal and provincial governments have taken strict steps like lockdowns to restrain the spread of virus in the country.
Currently, all provinces are under complete or partial lockdown and law enforcers police, Rangers and the Pakistan Army have been deployed across the country for useful enforcement of the lockdown.
