PMD forecasts another monsoon spell in parts of Pakistan today

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast another monsoon spell with strong winds and thundershowers in parts of Pakistan today.

Heavy rains are expected in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, and Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Islamabad received heavy rains last night.

The PMD forecast rain in Islamabad and Rawalpindi today. Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also likely to receive showers with strong winds at most places.

It also showered in different parts of Hyderabad last night after which power supply in different areas has been suspended. Many areas including Hyderabad, Qasimabad, Latifabad, Hussainabad, Gharibabad, Pathan Colony, and Naseem Nagar are without power.

Rain is expected in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Thatta, Badin, and Mirpur Khas. Sialkot district of Punjab and surrounding areas will also receive seasonal rains. According to the department, there is a danger of flooding in rainwater drains and rivers.

The heavy rains lashed most parts of Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab and Toba Tek Singh. 

The weather will be hot and humid in most districts of Balochistan today. However, more rains with thunderstorms are likely in Lasbela, Sibi, Kohlu, Barkhan, and Khuzdar. The weather remained dry in most parts of the country for the last 24 hours but thundershowers occurred in Lower Sindh, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Central Punjab, and Kashmir.
