ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to arrive in Sukkur on Friday (today) where he will announce an economic package for Sindh.
The economic package estimated at Rs446 million will prove to be a guarantor for the socio economic development of the backward districts of Sindh province.
The package envisages construction of Nai Gaj dam which will help irrigate 28800 acres of land as well as 306 kilometer long Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway. Around 20,000 acres of land will also be rehabilitated which will create livelihood opportunities for the people.
Under the package, gas supply will be ensured to 160 villages in the deprived districts of the province whilst provision of thirty thousand annual electricity connections is also part of it. The package also envisages improving the electricity transmission system which will help reduce line losses and outages.
Education reforms are also part of the Sindh package under which the ratio of higher education will be brought to 52 percent whilst f teacher-student ratio will be brought at 1:20. Fourteen passport offices will also be upgraded.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry announced that the prime minister will announce a mega-development package of Rs446 billion for Sindh.
Taking to Twitter, the federal minister said that the amount would be in addition to Rs1,100 billion for the Karachi package. “The next two years would be years of development as the PTI government is taking all possible steps to end the sense of deprivation among the people of Sindh,” he added.
PM Imran would attend an event of Kamyab Jawan Programme and would also visit a cash centre of Ehsaas Kafalat Programme.
Meanwhile, the prime minister is also expected to meet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its ally Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) members in Sukkur.
