Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a one-month extension of the fuel subsidy for motorcyclists, public transport operators, and goods transporters, aiming to maintain relief efforts amid economic strain linked to the Middle East crisis.
He also instructed authorities to prevent any increase in passenger and freight transport fares, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Earlier this month, the government introduced a targeted fuel subsidy program covering motorcycles, public transport, and freight vehicles. Under the scheme, motorcycle owners receive Rs100 per liter on petrol, while small trucks are granted Rs70,000 per month to help manage rising operating costs.
