MAKKAH: Prime Minister Imran Khan performed Umrah along with his accompanying delegation on the first day of his three-day visit to the Kingdom.
The prime minister prayed for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan as well as Muslim Ummah. Earlier, soon after his arrival in Madinah in the evening, he proceeded to Masjid-e-Nabawi, paid his respects at Roza-e-Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him), and prayed for the progress and prosperity of the country.
The prime minister, upon arrival in Jeddah, was received by Prince Badar bin Sultan Al Saud, Deputy Governor of Makkah region, while in Madinah Munawara he was welcomed by Prince Saud Bin Khalid Al-Faisal, Deputy Governor of Madinah Region.
PM Imran Khan arrived in Saudi Arabia on a three-day visit of the Kingdom to attend the launch of Middle East Green Initiative (MGI) Summit being held in Riyadh.
The prime minister was visiting the Kingdom at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz to attend the summit and will also participate in Pakistan-Saudi Investment Forum and meet Saudi leadership.
He is also expected to have a meeting with Pakistan community members in Saudi Arabia. He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Energy Minister Hammad Azhar, Special Assistant for Environment Malik Amin Aslam.
As per a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation to the kingdom, including the foreign minister and other members of the cabinet.
“At the MGI Summit, the prime minister will share his perspective on the challenges faced by the developing countries due to climate change. The prime minister will also highlight Pakistan’s experience of launching nature-based solutions to address environmental challenges,” the statement said.
“The MGI Summit is being held at the initiative of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. The event is the first of its kind in the Middle East region,” the statement said further.
The “Green Saudi Arabia” and “Green Middle East” initiatives were launched by the crown prince in March 2021 aimed at protecting the nature and planet. PM Imran Khan welcomed these two initiatives and offered to share experiences and lessons from Pakistan’s “Clean and Green Pakistan” and the “10 billion Tree Tsunami” projects
