ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched the Rs 15 billion Ehsaas Amdan Programme in Layyah today (Friday) to uplift the poorest section of the society.
PM Imran inaugurated the programme and gave assets to the deserving people. Special Assistant Dr Sania Nishtar was also present.
Assets include livestock (cow, goats, poultry and buffaloes), agricultural inputs, inputs for small retail outlets and small enterprises.
Speaking at the ceremony, PM Imran said that the incumbent government has launched this programme – the first of its kind in the history of the country, adding that the hard days of Pakistan are over as the country is on the right track.
Giving details about the programme, PM Imran said that a Kafaalat card has been introduced for the poorest members of the society.
He said that the government has decided to provide one cow, one buffalo and three goats to women so that they can run their households.
He further said that the government will provide loans every month to around 80,000 people without interest, adding that 180 shelters are made so far and further were being made.
Talking about loans, the premier said that the government had to return instalments of previously-taken loans; otherwise, Pakistan could have turned into a defaulter.
The programme aimed at creating respectable livelihood opportunities for those that are the poorest. It involves giving away assets to the poorest so they can earn a living and come out of the shackles of poverty.
