PM Imran Khan hails SC verdict on Gen Bajwa’s extension

PM IMRAN KHAN
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has commented on the six month extension in the tenure of Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
In a series of tweets, the prime minister took a shot at his rivals who he said were seeking to destablise the nation through a clash of institutions.
PM Imran Khan said that the Supreme Court verdict ‘must be a great disappointment to those who expected the country to be destabilised by a clash of institutions’.

Mafias who have stashed their loot abroad and seek to protect this loot by destabilising the country.

— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) November 28, 2019

The tweet read: “Today must be a great disappointment to those who expected the country to be destabilised by a clash of institutions. That this did not happen must be of special disappointment to our external enemies & mafias within.”
The prime minister took shot at forces desiring to see the country disintegrate and be embroiled in infighting. “Mafias who have stashed their loot abroad and seek to protect this loot by destabilising the country.”
The Supreme Court allowed the federal government to grant a six-month extension to General Bajwa. The apex court directed the government to bring necessary legislation within six months.
In another tweet, the prime minister praised Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and hailed him as “one of the greatest jurists produced by Pakistan”.

Also, for the record, I have the greatest respect for CJ Khosa, one of the greatest Jurists produced by Pakistan.

— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) November 28, 2019

The premier also underlined the struggle his political party and himself endured for the advocacy of an independent judiciary and rule of law.
The tweet read:”For the record, 23 yrs ago we were the first Party to advocate an independent Judiciary and Rule of Law. In 2007, PTI was in the forefront of the Movement for Independence of the Judiciary & I was jailed for it.”
