ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured the protection of rights of the print and electronic media workers.
The prime minister directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to take major steps in this regard.
Imran Khan instructed the ministry to put a condition for the issuance of government advertisement to only media houses that cleared all dues of its employees.
In this regard, PM’s Special Assistant on Information, Firdous Ashiq Awan also said that effective measures were being taken for the rights of media persons.
She expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of a private media channel’s cameraman Fayyaz Ali.
Firdous Awan announced one million rupees as compensation to the bereaved family. She assured to provide a job to Fayyaz’s brother in the Ministry of Information along with a house for his family.
She said that salary-related issues of media workers would be resolved soon after talks with media moguls and journalists’ bodies.
