ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa will visit Noshki in Balochistan on Tuesday (today) and spend time with the troops.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the federal cabinet meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled. The prime minister and the army chief would spend the day in Balochistan with the security forces, he said in a tweet.
“The security personnel having determination higher than the mountains and spirits wider than the oceans are our pride,” the minister said. “These sons of the soil were always ready to defend the motherland.”
During his visit, the prime minister will be given important operational briefings. He will also meet the soldiers in Noshki and is also scheduled to meet local elders.
Balochistan has witnessed a sudden increase in terror incidents targeting law enforcement agencies and security personnel. Earlier this month, at least 15 terrorists were killed in attacks in Noshki and Panjgur areas of Balochistan while 4 soldiers were martyred.
Security forces foiled terrorist attacks in the Panjgur and Noshki districts of Balochistan and killed four terrorists. In Noshki, nine terrorists were killed while four security forces personnel, including an officer, embraced martyrdom during the shoot-out while repulsing terrorist attack.
Panjgur, security forces repulsed the terrorist attack after intense exchange of fire and the terrorists fled from the area. Security forces carried out a clearance operation to hunt down hiding terrorists in the vicinity. A clearance operation was launched and 20 terrorists were killed.
On January 30, Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa interacted with troops during his visit to the Kech district in Balochistan after terror attacks in the province.
Gen Bajwa said the military will make all-out efforts to assist Balochistan towards achieving enduring peace and prosperity. “Terrorists shall be brought to justice and blood of the martyrs will not go waste,” the chief of army staff said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Gen Qamar paid tribute to the courage and resolve of Shuhada of Sibdan Top. “Balochistan is the future of Pakistan and progress and prosperity of the province means the progress of the country,” the military’s media wing quoted the COAS as saying.
“The disruptive efforts by inimical forces won’t be allowed to succeed,” the army chief emphasised. “Security, stability and prosperity of Balochistan shall be pursued/ensured at all costs,” Gen Qamar concluded.
