LAHORE: A petition has been moved against the use of the popular Chinese video app ‘TikTok’ through proxies at the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The petitioner in his petition stated that despite the ban on the TikTok imposed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the users are still using the video app through VPN and proxies.
The court was pleaded to issue directives to the government to block access to the app through VPN and proxies. Last week, the PTA placed the ban on TikTok over ‘obscene’ and ‘indecent’ content.

As per the authority, the app was given significant time to respond and comply with instructions to effectively moderate “unlawful online content”.
“However, the application failed to fully comply with the instructions, therefore, directions were issued for blocking of TikTok application in the country,” the statement said.
