Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has confirmed that both its domestic and international flights are continuing as per schedule despite ongoing road closures in various cities, particularly Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
However, passengers are advised to take extra precautions while planning their journey to the airport.
In a statement, the PIA spokesman urged passengers to familiarise themselves with alternative routes and open roads to avoid delays caused by roadblocks or traffic congestion. “It is highly recommended that travelers leave for the airport well in advance of their scheduled flight time to ensure they arrive timely,” the spokesman said.
“Planning your trip with ample time to avoid rush-hour traffic or unexpected road closures will help avoid any last-minute disruptions.”
For further assistance or to make any changes to their bookings, passengers can contact the PIA Call Center at 786 786 111 for timely updates.
It should be noted that Islamabad has been completely sealed off and mobile services have been suspended due to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protest at D-Chowk, causing widespread disruption. Metro services in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi were also suspended.
Moreover, Motorways M1 and M2 connecting Islamabad to Peshawar and Lahore respectively have been closed due to the protest. The blockade of these vital routes has resulted in major travel disruptions for commuters and transport services, leaving thousands stranded.
