The Sindh College Education Department has formally imposed a ban on photography in government girls’ colleges across the province.
According to a notification issued by the department, college principals have been instructed to strictly enforce the ban. Any violation may result in disciplinary or legal action, the notification warns.
In this regard, an advisory was issued by the Special Secretary Colleges Sindh, following which the Regional Director College Education Karachi circulated official letters to all government colleges in the city.
The letter states that photographs of female students have been misused on certain social media platforms, which constitutes a serious violation of social, religious and legal norms. The department has received formal complaints regarding such incidents.
The Special Secretary Education has taken serious notice of unauthorised photography of female teachers and students in some colleges, as well as the circulation of such images on Facebook, WhatsApp and other digital media platforms.
As a result, a strict ban has been imposed on all such activities within college premises.
