ISLAMABAD: The outgoing caretaker government on Thursday increased the price of petrol by Rs4.13 per liter.
The new petrol price is Rs279.75 per liter, a notification from the Finance Division read, which will remain in place till March 15. The Finance Division mentioned that the price of high-speed diesel has kept unchanged at Rs287.33 per liter.
The new prices, as recommended by Ogra have taken effect from this midnight (March 1) and will remain in place till March 15.
The increase in prices of petrol and high-speed diesel was expected after the exchange rate adjustment.
In Pakistan, the prices of petroleum products are updated every 15 days to reflect changes in the trend of worldwide oil prices as well as changes in the rupee’s value in relation to the dollar. Recently, the Pakistani rupee has remained stable.
This was the third raise in a row by the interim administration, and it will be the last one since the longest-serving caretaker government will finish this week with the election of a prime minister.
