Local citizen Shabbir Ismail filed his petition through his counsel advocate Azhar Siddique, arguing that the governor misused his authority by asking Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi to seek a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly without any reason. The governor couldn’t order CM to seek trust vote unless and until the current assembly session was over, the petitioner said.

The petition cited a letter, sent to President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif seeking their action against Governor Punjab, however, he said no action was taken as yet. He prayed to the high court to direct the president and the prime minister to remove Balighur Rehman from the post of Governor.
Just a few days back, it may be recalled, Governor Punjab Balighr Rahman had denotified Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi for not seeking vote of confidence on his instructions. The notification, however, was overturned by (LHC) with condition that the CM would not dissolve provincial assembly till next hearing.
