The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is exploring plans to build a new cricket stadium in Saudi Arabia, aiming to grow the sport’s presence in the region and potentially host Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in the future.
The proposed project reflects increasing interest in cricket across the Kingdom and could open a new chapter for the league beyond its traditional venues.
At the same time, Saudi authorities have been actively encouraging the development of sports through various initiatives.
The proposed stadium is expected to be constructed in Jeddah, reflecting growing interest in cricket across the country in recent years.
This rising popularity has prompted stakeholders to explore opportunities to expand the game’s footprint beyond traditional regions.
According to reports, the PCB has approved an expression of interest to collaborate with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation (SACF) for the project, which was discussed during a recent board meeting in Lahore.
If finalised, the venue could serve as an additional Middle Eastern location for PSL matches, alongside the United Arab Emirates, which has hosted several editions. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also visited Saudi Arabia in December 2024 to discuss promoting cricket.
