LAHORE: Pakistan’s top wrestler Inam Butt won the gold medal after beating Ukrainian wrestler in the final of the World Beach Wrestling Championship 2021 held in Rome, Italy.
Inam won the match with an undefeatable 3-0. The athlete, who won a gold medal for Pakistan at the 21st Commonwealth Games, progressed to the final round after beating Romania’s Mihai Nicolae Palaghia in the semi-final by 3-0 in the 90kg category.

Inam qualified for the semi-final after defeating Turkish Karadeniz Omer Faruk in the quarter-finals. He moved to the quarter-finals by defeating the Greek wrestler Georgios Tsaknakis in the second match of the game. Butt then defeated a Ukrainian wrestler by 3-0 to win the final.
“Alhamdulillah, by the grace of God I have won the World Beach Wrestling Series in Rome, Italy,” he said in a video message posted on his Twitter handle.
“Most of the credit for this feat goes to Pakistan Wrestling Federation. Luckily, today our new body has been elected and today I have earned the World Champion title for Pakistan,” he said. He thanked Pakistan Sports Board, IPC Minister Fehmida Mirza, and DG PSB Asif Zaman for their efforts and getting the opportunity to play there.
Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar congratulated Inam Butt for winning the golf medal for this country. Butt had previously won a gold medal at the World Beach Wrestling Championship held in Turkey in 2018.
