A 10-year-old boy from Swat, Pakistan, has gained attention by securing fourth place in the International Holy Quran Recitation Competition, “Mazamir Dawood,” hosted by a private channel in Algeria.
This annual event highlighted the talents of young Quran reciters from around the world. In addition to the private competition, Algeria’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments also organized a major competition under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported, “Muhammad Bashar, a ten-year-old from Swat, Pakistan, participated in the International Qur’an Recitation Competition, ‘Mazamir Dawood,’ in Algeria, organized by the private media channel ‘Echorouk.’”
The report further added that “Bashar secured the fourth position, earning a prize of $1,500.”
Last year, a Pakistani teenager named Azam Tariq participated in the 43rd King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an in Makkah, advancing to the final round. Tariq was awarded SR5,000 and an achievement certificate for his efforts.
