In a remarkable achievement at the ongoing MBW International Taekwondo Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the athletes from Peshawar, Pakistan made history by winning a record number of medals.
The team has secured a record haul of 7 gold, 6 silver, and 8 bronze medals, marking the most successful performance by Pakistan in any international Taekwondo event to date.
Among the standout performers, Vanya clinched gold in both Poomsae and Karogi, while also earning bronze in Freestyle Poomsae. Ian achieved gold in both Poomsae and Karogi and silver in Pierre Poomsae. Mohammad Mustafa Afridi secured gold in Karogi and Poomsae and also won bronze. Umaima won gold in Poomsae and silver in Pierre Poomsae.
Other notable performances include Hisham, who won gold in Individual Poomsae and silver in Karogi, and Hania, who achieved gold in Poomsae and silver in Karogi. Imran Khan earned bronze in Karogi, and Waqar Afridi won bronze in Poomsae. Ahmad won silver in Poomsae.
According to Waqar Afridi, Secretary General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Taekwondo Association and the team coach, the success is attributed to the team’s extensive preparation and relentless effort. The impressive results reflect the hard work and dedication of the athletes and their coaches.
