“I stand before you as a friend of the Jewish people”, blasting Palestinians people in the Zionist rally in Washington DC, a Pakistani-American activist reiterated her support for the apartheid state of Israel.
Amid chants for “no ceasefire”, the March for Israel attracted thousands of protesters and top politicians, many of whom rejected calls to end the war. Top members of the US Congress from both major parties, including the Speaker of the House of Representative Mike Johnson and Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, both of whom addressed the crowd, joined the demonstration.

Anila Ali, a Pakistani-American Muslim and women’s rights activist, said “I stand before you as a friend of the Jewish people.”

“I am here to affirm to my Abrahamic brothers and sisters that you are not alone,” says Ali. Explaining that Islam prohibits all the horrific acts Hamas committed on October 7, she ends her remarks, saying, “Am Yisrael Chai.”
It is worth noting that Anila Ali came under fire earlier for leading a delegation to Israel.

“(The president) of Israel received us warmly, and the people of Israel opened up their hearts and homes to us and they knew that we were Muslims and they knew that we were Pakistanis,” Anila Ali said after the visit, adding that Israelis knew that members of her delegation included Sikhs and Christians but they were still welcomed.
Pakistan is among the countries that have no diplomatic relations with Israel because of the lingering issue of Palestinian statehood and Pakistan says no delegation from Pakistan visited Israel.

Who is Anila Ali?
Anila Ali, a Pakistani-born U.S. citizen living in Washington, heads the non-governmental organization (NGO) American Muslim Multifaith Women’s Empowerment Council (AMMWEC).
Anila Ali was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and studied in London, where she became a volunteer in the All Pakistan Women’s Association. In 1996, she came to California. She is an active member of the Council of Pakistan-American Affairs (COPAA).
