The government of Pakistan has decided to cancel the passports and impose other restrictions on the individuals deported from foreign countries, according to media reports.
The decision was made in a meeting under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Saturday.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the Interior Secretary, the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the Director General of Passports attended the meeting.
Other restrictions include the addition of names to the passport control list for five years, a First Information Report (FIR), and halting any other travel documents.
A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Interior Secretary Captain (R) Khurram Agha to enforce the regulations made in the meeting.
The Interior Minister stressed on strict rules for those damaging the country’s reputation in foreign countries, adding that no leniency shall be shown to those deportees. He described this as a stain on Pakistan’s global reputation.
Naqvi emphasized a zero-tolerance policy, stating that no leniency will be shown to deportees in the future. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the Interior Secretary, the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the Director General of Passports.
