ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said the nation will receive its first monsoon rain from the coming Friday.
According to PMD, a moderate monsoon spell is likely to enter in upper and central parts of the country from Friday and will strengthen on Saturday.
A westerly wave is also expected to enter the upper parts of the country on Saturday. Rain with thunderstorms is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Friday to Tuesday breaking the persistent heat.

Rain with dusty winds is expected in parts of Balochistan and Sindh. The PMD alerted concerned authorities and has issued an advisory to handle situations during upcoming thunderstorms and rains starting from Friday.
Moreover, Karachi has been undergoing a heatwave that will continue for the next two days. The maximum temperature in Karachi has been recorded 40º Celsius and above today. Due to the formation of a low-pressure area.
The met office in a heatwave alert earlier said that due to the low pressure in the North Arabian Sea maximum temperature in Karachi may rise to 40º Celsius and above till 3rd July.
