The Pakistani hockey team is set to face archrival India in a highly anticipated match on September 14 at the Asian Champions Trophy 2024, taking place at the Moqi Training Base in Hulunbuir, China.
The tournament features six teams: India, Malaysia (ranked 13th), South Korea (ranked 14th), Japan (ranked 15th), Pakistan (ranked 16th), and hosts China (ranked 23rd).
While Pakistan leads India 82-66 in the overall head-to-head record, India has dominated recent encounters, winning 14 of the last 16 matches. India, the defending champion, has won the Asian Champions Trophy four times, making it the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
Pakistan will next face Japan tomorrow, Wednesday. According to Radio Pakistan, the match will begin at 10:30 a.m. Pakistan Standard Time.
On Monday, Pakistan played a thrilling match against South Korea. “Three goals were scored within seconds of each other in the 60th minute, leading to a dramatic 2-2 draw,” the International Hockey Federation said in a statement.
