The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to include two additional teams in the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Following increasing demands for expansion, a proposal has been put forward to conduct open bidding for the new franchises.
Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, shared this exciting news during an informal conversation with journalists at a private hotel in Karachi.
According to sources, two new teams will be added to PSL 11. Due to high demand, an open bidding process may be conducted to determine the value of the new franchises.
Sources further revealed that the owners of the new teams will choose their team names and home cities. The PSL administration is expected to soon clarify the procedure for this process.
It is worth noting that the first edition of the Pakistan Super League was held in 2016 with five teams: Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, and Quetta Gladiators.
In 2018, during the third season of PSL, a sixth team—Multan Sultans—was added to the league.
