Pakistan has witnessed a drop in weekly inflation, according to PBS report.
For the previous week, the prices of everyday use items dropped by 2.81% compared to the same week last year. In a comparison, in the previous week, prices fell by 0.83%. This shows a clear improvement and could give some relief to people who are struggling with the high cost of living.
Some of the biggest price drops were seen in food items. Garlic, tomatoes, onions, chicken, eggs, bananas, wheat flour, and potatoes all became cheaper. For instance, garlic went 15% cheaper in just one week. These items are used in everyday cooking, so this drop in prices is good news for most households.
However, the prices of every product went cheaper. A few items saw small increases in price. Things like pulse gram, LPG, beef, curd, and some types of cloth became a bit more expensive, but the rise was not chaotic.
In a contrast with the previous year, it is analysed that there have been some big changes in prices. Onions, wheat flour, and tomatoes have become much cheaper than they were last year. But some items have become more expensive, like apparels, pulses, and powdered milk.
Overall, this drop in inflation might not be a significant one but it certainly has provided a relief to the public. As people now might start to feel less pressurised when buying groceries and other essentials. Nevertheless, it is a positive sign for the economy and for regular people who have been dealing with high prices for a long time.
