Pakistan reports over 4,500 coronavirus cases, 46 deaths

It may be recalled that earlier the government had issued an amendment notification for lockdown in Sindh including Karachi

ISLAMABAD: At least 4,722 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Pakistan while 46 more civilians have died in the last 24 hours.

According to figures released by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 1,047,999 cases of the coronavirus were reported across the country, while 23,575 people died of the virus.

During the last 24 hours, 57,398 tests were conducted for the diagnosis of coronavirus, bringing the total number of tests to 1,62,15,728.

In the last 24 hours, 1,454 patients have contracted the virus, bringing the total number of healthy people in the country to 945,829 and active cases to 78,595.

In Sindh province, 389,699 people were infected and 6,069 died from corona, while in Punjab, 359,321 cases were reported and 11,104 deaths were reported due to the virus.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 145,862 people were infected with corona and 4,487 died. In Balochistan, 30,749 people were infected with the virus, while 328 died of the virus.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 25,301 cases of the virus were reported while 634 civilians died due to coronavirus. In Islamabad, 88,676 cases and 806 deaths were reported. In Gilgit-Baltistan, 8,391 cases of the corona were reported while the number of deaths due to the virus was 147. Nationwide, the death toll from coronavirus was 2.2 percent.

It may be recalled that earlier the government had issued an amendment notification for lockdown in Sindh including Karachi while examinations across the province were also postponed during the lockdown to prevent coronavirus.

The Sindh government issued a lockdown notification on July 31. Businesses will remain closed until August 8. The journalist community and media workers will be allowed to continue their journalistic activities with coronavirus SOPs.
