ISLAMABAD: Around 1,080,360 people have been infected with coronavirus in Pakistan while 24,085 people have died of the virus.
According to figures released by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 4,856 new cases of the coronavirus were reported across the country in the last 24 hours, while 81 more civilians lost their lives to the virus.
During the last 24 hours, 65,690 tests were carried out to diagnose coronavirus, bringing the total number of tests to 1,66,16,130. The worst affected provinces were Punjab and Sindh.
In Punjab, 367,054 cases and 11,256 deaths were reported, while in Sindh, 43,964 people were affected and 6,275 died from coronavirus. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 149,532 people were affected and 4,588 died from the virus, while 31,298 cases and 332 deaths were reported in Balochistan. In Islamabad, 91,672 civilians were affected by coronavirus while 822 died.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, 8,941 people were affected by coronavirus while 158 died. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 27,899 cases and 654 deaths were reported. Across the country, the death rate from the virus was 2.2 percent.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that by the grace of God, Pakistan was being protected from the worst effects of the coronavirus epidemic. He paid tribute to the entire NCOC team for this excellent effort.
In his message on social networking site Twitter three days ago, PM Khan said that our strategy against the COVID-19 epidemic was appreciated by the whole world for which the NCOC team deserves congratulations.
