KARACHI: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has surged to 263,000, in Pakistan, while the death toll stands at 5,540.
The coronavirus cases in Pakistan are now above 263,000, . Several patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 198,597.
More than 1,985 cases of coronavirus were reported while 44 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases in-country is above 73,100. As per NCOC, around 25,207 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours taking the total number to 197,092.
The total number of infections in Punjab stands at 89,525, Sindh 111,268, 31,966 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,405 in Balochistan, 14,504 in Islamabad, 1,908 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 1,975 in Gilgit Baltistan.
Out of a total of 5,540 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 1,131 deaths, Sindh 2,159, Balochistan 132, Gilgit-Baltistan 42, Punjab 2,069, Azad Kashmir 47, and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 159 deaths.
The recoveries in Punjab stand at 65,010, Sindh 89,292, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 22,874, Islamabad 11,899, Balochistan 8,461, Gilgit-Baltistan 1,496, and Azad Jammu Kashmir 1,095.
Novel coronavirus cases in the country have continued to decline in the past two weeks, a development the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan dubbed as the result of its successful anti-COVID-19 strategy.
