Pakistan’s under-12 boys’ tennis team advanced to the final of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) South Asia Championship on Thursday after securing a commanding victory over India in the semifinals.
The young Pakistani players delivered a dominant performance, winning both singles matches in straight sets. Rashid Ali secured a 6-2, 6-3 win over B.C. Thanush Shekar, while Muhammad Shayan Afridi dispatched Khatri Nayan with an emphatic 6-0, 6-1 scoreline.
Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan cruised through the group stage without dropping a tie, defeating the Maldives, Bangladesh, and Nepal by identical 3-0 margins.
The semifinal triumph sets up a highly anticipated final against host nation Sri Lanka on Friday.
Officials from the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) commended the team’s consistent and dominant performance throughout the championship.
The victory over India, particularly after the recent loss by Pakistan’s under-16 Davis Cup team to the same opponent, was seen as a significant and morale-boosting accomplishment for the country’s youth tennis program.
