In a significant development for Pakistan’s journalist community, Pakistan Railways has officially restored travel concessions for journalists on the directive of Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.
According to the issued notification, journalists and their spouses will once again receive a 50% discount on railway tickets upon presentation of a valid journalist card, providing substantial relief for those travelling across the country.
The decision came after a delegation of journalists met the federal minister in Lahore and requested the restoration of this facility. The minister took immediate notice and directed authorities to resolve the long-standing issue.
On the occasion, Hanif Abbasi stated that journalists are the eyes and voice of society, and responsible journalism is the foundation of any strong democratic system.
He assured that Pakistan Railways will continue to maintain close engagement with the journalist community and take further steps to address their concerns.
This move will not only provide financial relief to journalists but also make it easier for them to carry out their professional duties.
