Pakistan was once again barred from addressing the Security Council meeting held on the situation in Afghanistan.
The Chinese Deputy Envoy raised the issue of Pakistan and said in the meeting that some countries wanted to see the wider role of Afghanistan’s neighbours but the request of some neighbouring countries to attend the Security Council meeting was not accepted.
After the Security Council meeting, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Munir Akram said in a press briefing that we had requested to attend the Security Council meeting. It is very unfortunate that Pakistan’s request was once again blocked by the Indian Presidency.
He said that India had blocked the Security Council from informing it of an important point of view. “Our vision can help restore peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region. India’s action signifies a plan to continue the conflict in Afghanistan. Due to such an attitude, it is feared that Afghanistan will continue to sponsor terrorism against Pakistan,” he asserted.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Munir Akram has said that India’s biased and obstructive actions are an expression of its hatred for Pakistan. A representative of Afghanistan’s inactive government was allowed to address the Security Council.

“Pakistan has been a victim of decades of conflict in Afghanistan. We want peace and stability in our neighborhood,” he said by adding, “The meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s position that there is no military solution to Afghanistan.”
He said that India’s attitude confirms Pakistan’s position that India does not deserve to be a member of the Security Council. “India has been violating resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir for decades,” he concluded.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram had said that there was no hope of transparency in the Security Council meeting chaired by India while not inviting Pakistan to the meeting was against the law.
Talking about the Security Council meeting held 11 days ago today, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Munir Akram said that Pakistan made every effort to find a political solution to the Afghan problem. Many armed groups do not want peace in Afghanistan.
