The Pakistan–Iran Transit Corridor has been formally launched, with the first export consignment departing from Karachi for Tashkent.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan Customs, the inaugural shipment consists of frozen meat, transported in specially refrigerated trucks from Karachi to Tashkent via Iran.

The goods crossed into Iran through the Gabd region of Gwadar and entered the Iranian area of Rimdan, from where they will proceed onwards to Central Asian states.

A spokesperson stated that this development establishes a new overland trade route from Pakistan to Central Asia via Iran.

The corridor has been launched under the TIR system, providing an alternative and efficient land route for exports to Iran and Central Asian countries.

The initiative is expected to boost trade activity, reduce transit times, and open up new opportunities for Pakistan’s industry and commerce sectors.
