One of the Top 16 contestants on the popular reality show Pakistan Idol, M. Ibrar Shahid, has sensationally announced his departure from the program, stating he left the competition “by my own choice” due to an allegedly “unfair, discouraging, and emotionally damaging” environment.
Shahid took to social media to share a detailed public statement, directly challenging the show’s internal culture and practices.
Ibrar Shahid asserted that his journey, intended to be about “music, dreams, and passion,” turned into an entirely different experience behind the scenes.

Shahid claimed he found himself in an environment where “artists’ voices felt controlled, questions weren’t allowed, and individuality was suppressed.”
He stated that he reached a breaking point during the shoot on December 9, choosing to “walk away with dignity” rather than “break down.”
The former contestant revealed that after informing the show’s team of his decision, he received a warning about “disqualification” and “threats of action” if he decided to speak publicly about his experience.
“My voice is mine. My truth belongs to me. And NO system can silence an artist who stands for what’s right… Leaving the show is not my failure…. It is my freedom. It is my stand. It is my beginning.”
M. Ibrar Shahid stressed that his decision to speak out was not intended to create drama, but because “silence protects the system, not the artist.”
He issued a powerful call for change within the industry.

“If we want real talent to rise in this country, then the culture of lobbying, politics, manipulation, and hypocrisy must end.”
The contestant concluded by urging young artists to “NEVER have to stay silent for a platform that doesn’t value you” and called on the public to support his movement for fairness in the industry.
Pakistan Idol management has yet to release an official statement regarding M. Ibrar Shahid’s allegations and abrupt departure.
