ISLAMABAD: Security forces conducted intelligence-based operations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border following terrorist attacks on camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Karachi, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar said.
Addressing the media, Tarar said 29 militants were killed in the operations. He added that hideouts of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Fitna al-Khawarij were targeted.
In one intelligence-based operation, a high-value militant commander, Khan Farosh alias Zabal, was killed. Tarar said three more terrorists, including a commander of the India-backed Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, were also eliminated.
*Air strikes on night of June 28-29*
Tarar said major air operations were carried out on the night between June 28 and 29 along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The air strikes destroyed three militant hideouts in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar, killing another 25 terrorists.
The operations also destroyed a large cache of weapons and ammunition stored at the militant centers, he said.
*“No compromise on citizens’ lives”*
“Pakistan always seeks peace, but there will be no compromise on the lives and property of citizens,” Tarar said. He added that the counter-terrorism campaign will continue under the Apex Committee of the National Action Plan’s vision, ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’.
“Operations by the forces will continue with full force until foreign-funded terrorism is eliminated from the country,” he said.
