ISLAMABAD: Pakistani cabinet has approved the Halal authority rules for the Pakistan Halal Authority (PHA) after five years.

On Wednesday, rules to enable the operation of Halal authority in the country got approved after a delay of almost five years. The PHA is responsible to work out the Halal status for products, processes, and services maintained in the local market as well as products being imported and exported from the country.

However, the PHA was established through an Act of Parliament in 2016, but the body was not functioning due to the lack of required business and other rules. As per sources, recently Minister for Science and Technology, Shibli Faraz took interest in the matter and approved the rules of Halal authority.
