The capital is all set to host the first-ever Overseas Pakistanis Convention on Sunday, marking a historic moment to recognize and celebrate the vital role of overseas Pakistanis in the country’s economic and social development.
According to Radio Pakistan, the convention aims to acknowledge the contributions of Pakistanis living abroad, who send billions in remittances each year and act as ambassadors of the country on the global stage.
In a significant gesture, the government has announced that overseas Pakistanis attending the convention will be treated as state guests. Special arrangements are being made at airports to formally receive them, reflecting the government’s commitment to honoring their role in national development.
The convention will serve as a centralized platform, bringing together overseas Pakistanis, government officials, and national institutions.
To enhance access to public services, help desks from various government departments will be set up at the venue, offering information, guidance, and on-the-spot services under one roof.
This initiative aims to streamline bureaucratic processes and ensure that issues faced by overseas citizens are addressed efficiently and transparently.
In a video message ahead of the event, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain assured participants that the government is fully committed to the welfare of Pakistanis living abroad.
“This is the first time such a convention is being held. We want to hear from our overseas brothers and sisters. Your feedback and suggestions are essential for shaping future policy,” he said.
Hussain also praised overseas Pakistanis for their loyalty and hard work, which, he emphasized, has boosted Pakistan’s image globally.
