LAHORE: Punjab Police announced the installation of over 2000 CCTV cameras across various markets to bolster security and safeguard citizens during Eid-ul-Fitr festivities.
This initiative aligns with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision for a secure province.
According to a police spokesperson, Lahore saw the deployment of 400 cameras in its markets and commercial hubs, with similar installations in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan. Additionally, CCTV coverage extended to sensitive areas like Sheikhupura and Bahawalpur.

Inspector General Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, emphasized the role of these cameras in tracking criminal activities. He highlighted the significance of expanding surveillance to important markets and bazaars, with all cameras integrated into district safe city control rooms.
Dr. Anwar stressed ongoing efforts to install more cameras, especially in key locations, to deter criminal and anti-state activities.
He assured that Punjab Safe Cities Authority control rooms maintain constant vigilance over the situation.
