KARACHI: Muhammad Ahsan, an orphan student, has moved the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) over the non-provision of Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
According to Muhammad Ahsan- who hails from Karachi’s Orangi Town, was unable to get admission to a university without his NIC, but NADRA officials would not issue it without his parents’ records.
In a video statement, Ahsan could be heard saying that his mother left him when he was six-month-old, and his father died in 2008. He claimed he had been brought up by his grandparents, who have also passed away.
The orphan student further said that he had completed his intermediate four years ago and since he had been trying to get admission in university for higher studies. However, the NADRA has rejected his several requests for the issuance of CNIC.
In this regard, Muhammad Ahsan said, he has moved the Sindh High Court (SHC) against NADRA under section 199 (False statement made in declaration which is by law receivable as evidence) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
