Opposition’s APC – a mess

Aijaz Ali Saghar by Aijaz Ali Saghar
September 27, 2020

People often claimed that even if all the doors are closed in politics, one door of reconciliation remains open. In politics, no day is the last, the goddess of fortune can be kind anytime. Politics in Pakistan is a bit unique which is slightly different from other South Asian countries.

If we look at our 70-year political history, we have probably not found any international leader except Quaid-e-Azam and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. These two were the best political leader, not only in Pakistan, but also in the world, who had feelings for their people. We have not had such a leader since then, although we have had many prime ministers and presidents.

When Imran Khan took over the government and decided to build this state as the state of Madinah, the nation started believing that another leader had born who cares for his people. Imran Khan reached the heights of fame but he may not have realized that he has made the ruling PML-N, PPP and Maulana Fazlur Rehman his enemies for years.

As soon as Prime Minister Imran Khan tightened the noose around the opposition and opened the doors of jails for Nawaz Sharif and his family, Asif Ali Zardari and his party members, the entire opposition decided to come together.

The Cold War between the government and the opposition has been going on for the last few months. This war is apparently being fought for the people and the country. Both sides are portraying that they are the great benefactors of this country and nation and the other enemy. The people have never cared about who is on the right path.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman wanted to bring all the opposition parties on one page so that Imran Khan’s government could be overthrown, and eventually, he succeeded. And the Opposition’s All Parties Conference took place. On the other hand, the PTI failed to deliver on its manifesto and the promises made to the people were not fulfilled and unemployment, inflation and poverty rates in the country increased.

After witnessing these shortcomings, the opposition was confident that they would succeed in overthrowing the government. Mian Nawaz Sharif criticized the ‘Khalai Makhlooq’ and sent a message to the world that the army is interfering in politics. A statement was issued in which Imran Khan was first asked to resign and new elections were demanded in the country immediately.

Attempts were made to bring the institutions under pressure to achieve the desired results but perhaps the opposition forgot that those who can bring them in power can do anything they want. They all had different goals. This conference was actually called to use each other. Every party in this conference was using another party and every individual is using another person.

Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz want to play an offensive inning while Shahbaz Sharif is in the mood to play a Test match. Asif Zardari, who has always been considered an expert in deep tricks, is now old. He wants to play the last innings of his life and Bilawal the first innings. While Maulana Fazlur Rehman is keeping an eye on Bungalow No. 22, he is trying to reach the assembly by any means and start getting the same protocol again.

They all want to achieve their goals using each other, but this conference has proved to be a mess. Many politicians may never enjoy power again. The army has responded to this conference and Mian Sahib’s speech in which the politicians were asked not to drag the army in any matter.

If the attitude of the opposition remains the same in the future, then this country will move towards a presidential system in which the chances of becoming a national government are high. The parliamentary system is almost over, so after this attitude of the opposition, the invisible forces will not strengthen anyone in the future in such a way that they start turning a blind eye to them.

The opposition must have a soft stance instead of an aggressive stance and play the role of a strong opposition so that Pakistan’s development is possible. The turn comes and goes. You should not create a situation where the head coach and the captain do not select you.
