ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz has said that the opposition should not politicize issues like coronavirus.
Talking to media in Islamabad, Shibli Faraz said that the Speaker National Assembly had formed a parliamentary committee on the coronavirus issue but no leader of the Opposition had participated in the meeting.
He said that Pakistan had successfully overcome the first wave of coronavirus while the statistics of the second wave show the gravity of the situation. Shibli Faraz said that the opposition did not participate in the parliamentary committee meeting and did politics. The opposition should cooperate so that matters on national issues go beyond consultation. The committee has held five meetings but four meetings were attended by opposition members.
He said the government did not want to take unilateral decisions on a serious issue like coronavirus. The opposition will have to respond to today’s boycott, but the government will continue to work for the good of the Pakistani people, while the opposition wants a situation where unemployment and hospital conditions in the country are deteriorating.
