Oman has announced free 10-day visas to passengers and crew members of cruise ships arriving in the country.
Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsen Al Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, announced amendments to the Executive Regulations of the Foreigners’ Residence Law. Under these changes, a 10-day visa will be granted to tourists and crew upon the request of the cruise ship agent, with entry required within 30 days. A one-month visa is also available under similar terms.
This initiative aims to promote tourism by making Oman a more attractive destination for cruise lines and tourists. The free visa policy is expected to increase the country’s appeal in the cruise tourism market.
Key amendments include:
Article 1: Clause 3/c of Article 10 of the Executive Regulations of the Foreigners’ Residence Law is replaced to provide two visa options for cruise ship passengers and crew: a 10-day visa and a one-month visa, both granted upon the request of the ship’s agent, with entry required within 30 days.
Article 2: Sequence 13 of the entry visa table in Article 29 is updated to reflect that a free visit visa for up to 10 days will be granted to cruise ship passengers and crew.
Article 3: Sequence 12 of the entry visa table in Article 29 is cancelled.
