KARACHI: The leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has claimed that no one except Jamaat-e-Islami can improve Karachi because no party owns the metropolis the way JI does.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the right of this city was at stake as those who were busy in killings were going to repeat this history again.
Hafiz Naeem said that when the operation took place seven or eight years back, people had hopes that the culture of bodies pack in sack would not return to the city, however, some elements wanted otherwise and tried to occupy the city again.

The JI Karachi Chief took a jibe at the Sindh governor for not doing his job, and alleged that Sindh Governor House had become a hotbed of conspiracies against local elections.

He urged Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori to distance himself from the MQM unification movement, adding that the powers of Rangers should be increased for maintaining law and order in Karachi.

He said said the local elections were the demand of the people, more than 80 percent people wanted that elections should be held and yesterday the High Court also upheld its decision.
He said “I request the public not to rest at home on the day of local elections on January 15, go out to vote and remain at the polling station for 2 to 3 hours to discourage riggers.”
